Nicolas Auvray Gallery, recognized for its commitment to contemporary art, continues to expand its offerings with exhibitions that highlight the diversity of artistic expressions on an international level. Located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York, it has established itself as a key space for photography, painting, and sculpture, while also actively participating in renowned art fairs.

From March 27 to May 4, the gallery presents artist Alfredo Romero with the exhibition Vestiges of Our Time. In this show, Romero will showcase a selection of works in his distinctive strappo technique, a process in which he extracts and transfers fragments from urban walls dating from the 1960s to the 2000s onto canvas, preserving and intervening in the city’s visual memory. His work focuses on revaluing the hand-painted signs, graffiti, and graphic elements on building facades that have witnessed the evolution of the urban landscape over time.

The exhibition will feature pieces from his latest collection, in which the artist explores the intersection of history, identity, and contemporary art in Latin America specifically, the works in this show originate from buildings in Mexico.

This exhibition not only provides an opportunity to appreciate Alfredo Romero’s work in a new international context but also serves as a meeting point for diverse visual narratives that connect the urban memory of a not-so-distant past with the present.
